Meet the Team
Dave Scourfield:
I graduated from Charlotte Mason College in 1990 with a B.Ed in Applied Education with subject specialism in Outdoor Education. Since then I have taught in state and independent schools, at both primary and secondary phases, and worked as an outdoor instructor for a variety of Centres and Services. For the last 12 years, I've worked as the Educational Visits Adviser for Rochdale Borough Council, and during that time I have also been contracted as the EVA for Blackburn with Darwen and Bury Councils.
During my time teaching, I held responsibility for developing Learning Outside the Classroom across the schools that I worked in, and have led a range of visits, including activities in the local environment, self-led adventure activities, residential visits in the UK and abroad and self-led UK & foreign sea kayak expeditions.
Dave is an Accredited Member of the Outdoor Education Advisers Panel.
Tom Booth:
After leaving university my first fulltime job was at Robinwood Activity Centre where I worked for a couple of years. Through that I experienced first hand the benefits of learning beyond the classroom and the efforts taken by teachers to run a visit. After that I went to work supporting an older age group; 16 to 25 year old's for Groundwork and The Prince's Trust. This involved, among other things; going on residentials and landscaping gardens, plus helping to get the young people work ready.
Whilst in that role time I also started volunteering for Rochdale Youth Service - Duke of Edinburgh Team, where I continue to work part time. Fortunately enough an opportunity arose to apply for my current role as Outdoor Education Officer, supporting Dave and the service across Rochdale, Bury and neighbouring Local Authorities.
Tom is an Accredited Member of the Outdoor Education Advisers Panel.
